The participants who lived within walking distance arrived at around 11 and played tag or soccer while waiting to Abraham to arrive with the children who needed transport. We then had review, singing, and Bible verse learning, before our actor of the day came to tell his or her story.
We prayed for the snack, and then the kids and teens sat in groups to eat. Early finishers began tag games.
After a bit more review, songs, and verse memorization, we moved upstairs to do the craft and activity page related to the day´s story. Before the final review, we played games together. By around 2:30, the day´s events ended.

We focused on the life of Samuel for this year´s Vacation Bible School. Our particular aim was for the children and teens to see how God hears us and how he promised David that a Savior would one day come from his family. That Savior is Jesus.
For the first time, a consistent group of children and teens were present through the week, rather than some attending only one or two days. We were blessed to have excellent helpers who prepared food, helped the children with their activity pages, and acted in the monologues. Others generously donated food for the snacks and for the workers´ lunches on some days.
Thank you for your prayers. We experienced no illness or accidents, and the young people who arrived each day thoroughly enjoyed their week. On the last day - Saturday - our son wistfully said, “I wish VBS could last a whole month!” He acted the part of young Samuel on Wednesday, and although he said he was trembling from head to toe, he presented his monologue clearly and convincingly.

Many of the parents attended the finale on Saturday afternoon. They joined us in singing the week´s songs and listened as the children and teens recited the verses. Afterwards, Abraham recapped the Bible stories and shared the plan of salvation. The participants received their diplomas and gifts and then we all enjoyed treats.
Many of those who attended go to our school and church, but others will hopefully stay in contact through our English and art and culture classes or by using the library in our school.
