No Time off from School

Schools in the United States and in Mexico have let out for the summer, but we are still holding classes. Only one of our students (besides our own kids) began school at five, so the rest have a great deal of catching up to do. In addition, regular attendance is not their first priority, so some of them are still lagging more than others in academic areas. We recently welcomed a new girl to the school, bringing our group up to ten members, when all attend. During English class, another five students often arrive.

Thursdays, a varying number of students join us for art and culture class in the afternoon. The students and I especially enjoy learning about cultures all over the world through seeing short videos, tasting a sample of local cooking, and creating art based on some aspect of the country´s culture.

We will pause school the week before our Vacation Bible School, in order to prepare. Planning and writing lessons, drawing review posters, and buying supplies become life-consuming as the VBS week arrives. This year´s theme is the life of Samuel and how his story points to Jesus. We ask your prayers for health and energy, volunteers to help throughout the week, and the finances to cover VBS expenses. Please pray, too, for each child and teen who will attend, that their lives will be touched by the God who loves them.

If you would like to directly provide VBS supplies, there is a basic list here: https://www.amazon.com.mx/hz/wishlist/ls/2CAESJKU1F6DH?ref_=wl_fv_le
